Welcome to Class 2
Welcome to class 2! Mrs Blythe is the class teacher and Mrs Young is the teaching assistant. Feel free to pop in if you have any questions or queries.
Class 2 have really enjoyed their learning this half term and have learnt lots of historical skills and knowledge from our work about ‘The Great Fire Of London’ We have written poetry as if we were stuck in the fire and a recount of the fire’s events by pretending we were making a newspaper front cover. We have thought about how we find out information about history and what we can and can’t believe. Our visit from Sir William Petty, a gentleman from 1666, was amazing and we were able to use lots of the information in our own drama work when were pretended to be a character from the fire. We also had a visit from Miss Whiteman who is a fire fighter to help us understand about fire safety and what she has to do everyday. We hope she likes the character profiles we have written!
Mrs Blythe's maths group have been learning about the four calculation strategies as well as quicker ways to find halves, quarters and thirds. We have described the properties of 2 and 3D shapes to our friends and learned to read scales.
We loved our ‘Lego Afternoon’ experience working with our friends to create a Lego city of our own. Mrs Blythe was excited to discover who was very talented at building and who had the most interesting ideas. Putting all the buildings together at the end looked amazing!
Lots of our learning is up in and around our classroom. Please come and visit us to find out more.
In the second half of the Spring Term our topic is called ‘Super Humans’ so expect interesting learning about our bodies, how they move and change and a visit from a mother and baby. What would you like to discover about people and how the human body works?
