Welcome to Class 3
The teachers are Mrs Harrison and Miss Horsfield. the teaching assistant is Mrs Heald. We have already had an exciting two weeks getting to know each other and we have already started to produce some lovely work for our new classroom.
We have been reading the story of the Three Little pigs and have had lots of fun acting out the story We have also produced some writing about the characters and what they say or might say in the story. There are lots of lovely paintings and ICT pictures too. Look out for the work on the walls.
This half term our topic is called ‘Lets go on safari’ Where we will be learning about the both animals and humans.
We will be learning about the different senses that we use and exploring them by tasting, smelling touching and listening to lots of different things.
We will be identifying different animals and sorting them into the different groups such as reptiles, birds, mammals, fish and amphibians.
We will be grouping animals according to what they eat such as carnivore, herbivores and omnivores. We will be learning about their habitats and creating lots of art work based around animals and their skin coverings.
To make this topic exciting we have planned to go on a visit to the Yorkshire Wildlife Park on Monday 18th September so children will have lots of opportunities to see many kinds of different animals. This will stimulate the children into learning more about the different animals around the world.
In English we will be learning how to instructions such as how to make an animal mask and how to look after a pet. We will also be learning how to write a recount about different events that we will be taking part in. We will also be reading and writing our own poems about animals.
