Welcome to Foundation Stage
Welcome to class 5 and class 6. The teachers are Mrs Sinclair and Mrs Holmes and the teaching assistants are Mrs Tate and Mrs Barker. If you have any questions or queries feel free to come and see us.
We had a lovely time meeting you all during your visits. We had lots of fun exploring in our new classrooms and getting to know one another. We hope you have started to make some new friends and are looking forward to seeing them in September.
Our topic during the first half term is ‘Once Upon A Time,’ where we will explore a variety of different ‘Traditional Tales.’ We will be comparing our lives to the lives of the characters in the books and talking about similarities and differences. There will be lots of opportunity to role play and use the story language that we have learnt. We will learn about one another through the traditional tale stories for example when reading ‘Goldilocks and the Three bears,’ we will talk about what we like to eat for breakfast. When we read the story ‘The Three Little Pigs’ we will talk about what sort of house we live in and who lives in our house with us etc.
In Mathematics we will be working on recognising numbers and being able to match the corresponding amount to its number. We will explore shapes and use them to make pictures and scenes. We will go on a shape hunt around school to see what shapes are in our environment. Counting aloud using different voices and actions will be part of our everyday routine to develop our confidence in this area.
In the outdoor area we will be learning how to use all the different equipment available correctly and safely. For example washing our hands when we come out of the mud kitchen and putting on an apron when in the water tray.
We will get to know the school rules and routines through class discussions, circle times sessions and Dinosaur School. Be sure to check the website as we will take lots of pictures to show you the fun we are having and how we are settling into school.
