The school is involved with the Healthy Schools Project which seeks to promote healthy and active lifestyles. We take an active part in promoting healthy eating and participation in sports and games, both in and out of school.
School lunches are provided by RMBC caterers and include a choice from four healthy options daily. The options include 3 hot and 1 chilled choice. Children are able to choose their meal with parents and menus are displayed in each classroom and available to keep at home.
Below is our new school menu which we will use from returning after the half term break. You will receive a copy attached to the school newsletter at the end of term. We will then start the new 3 week menu from Monday 24th April 2017 starting on week 1.
Good Practice in the Playground - May 2016
A booklet made by children serving on last year’s school council has received special recognition by Rotherham Borough Council’s Healthy Schools Team.
The booklet of Playground Games to be shared by the whole school received a Good Practice Award when it was submitted last year. Now the council want to use it on their new Healthy Schools website as a good example.
This means that schools throughout the borough will now be able to read about the six games the children on the council chose and enjoy them in their own setting.
The games are all photographed with clear instructions and are designed to make playtime more fun.
Healthy School Award
Ryecroft’s a winner when it comes to healthy school activities. This year so far a total of three have come our way. We are proud of our achievements to raise money for a defibrillator, provide a book of playground games and equip lunchtime staff with specialist sports skills. We are also pleased that Healthy Schools Rotherham and Healthy School South Yorkshire have recognised us for our good practice.
