Class 4

Welcome to Class 4

We are so proud of how hard all the children have worked putting on such a wonderful Christmas Nativity. Things have been different so far this school year but the children have adapted well under the circumstances and we look forward to a new start in January. We have enjoyed our ‘To Infinity and Beyond’ topic, where we have learnt lots about space and Neil Armstrong.

This half term our topic is called ‘Ryecroft on Tour’. This topic focuses on Rawmarsh, with geographical links. The children will learn about their local area and about an area in Kenya. This will allow us to write reports about the United Kingdom and Kenya in comparison.

In Literacy our writing will focus on reports, instructions and story writing. We will be adding adjectives to make our writing more interesting and using conjunctions to join sentences together. We will continue to work hard to use capital letters, full stops and finger spaces.

In Mathematics we will continue with Friday maths challenges which will help to develop our arithmetic skills. We will be introducing time, multiplication and division as well as developing our current mathematical knowledge.

In Topic we will be learning about the different continents and oceans. Also, we will make some African themed artwork including necklaces and silhouettes.  There is lot’s to look forward to in January.
