Welcome to Class 5
Miss Horsfield is the class teacher and Mrs Tate is the teaching assistant. We can not wait to meet you for transition!
Our first topic we will be looking at is ‘Once upon a time’. We will be exploring many traditional tales and looking at the use of story language. Children will be comparing the different tales by looking at similarities and differences between the characters and their own lives. Some of the traditional tales we will be looking at are ‘Goldilocks and the three bears’, and ‘The three little pigs’. The children will have the opportunity to use role play and use the story language they have learnt.
In our writing we will be learning to write our names and other words in the context of stories we are going to be reading.
In numeracy we will be working on number recognition and matching amounts to the corresponding number. We will be practising counting out loud in a range of different contexts through different voices and different actions to engage the children. There will be a focus of using one to one correspondence to accurately count groups of objects.
In the outdoor area we will be learning how to keep safe and how to use the different equipment including the sand pit, bike track and mud pit.
There will be lots of opportunities for us to take photos of children’s learning and show you the fun we will be getting up to. Keep a look out on the school website for photos and learning updates.
If you have any questions please feel free to ask Miss Horsfield or Mrs Tate.
