Welcome to Foundation Stage!
This half term our topic is ‘Once Upon a time,’ we will share many traditional tales with the children and our learning will link to these stories. We are looking forward to meeting the different story characters and making comparisons between ourselves and our families. As well as learning to write our names we will be listening to the sounds in words and writing them down. Children will be introduced to the cursive script that we use in school which means that all letters have an entry stroke.
We will also have whole class sessions for Numeracy when we will engage in number recognition, a range of counting activities, songs, shape work and problem solving. We will also engage in small group games and number activities. You can support your child through noticing numbers in the environment, such as on doors, buses, in telephone numbers etc, asking them how many items or objects they can see, how many they might have if they had one more or less and talking about where things are in the house or in the shops.
A few important things to note
PE will be on a Monday. Please ensure earrings are removed and hair is tied up for PE days:
Homework bags will come home on a Friday with new homework for the weekend. Please place homework once completed back in the bag (not inside the Folder) so that we can see the completed homework. Please return homework to school for Wednesday of the following week.
Please can we remind you to label all items of clothing and water bottles to help reduce the amount left at the end of the day.
If you are unsure or have any concerns please do not hesitate to speak to a member of Foundation Stage staff.
