It has been a pleasure to have the children back in school. It’s been a heady mix of noise, laughter and learning and the building feels alive again. The children have settled so quickly into the swing of school life, it is almost like they have never been away!
Next week, teachers are making their Parents Evening calls home. These are on the following days:
Class 6 and 5 (FS2) – Monday 15th March
Class 4 and 3 (Y1) – Tuesday 16th March
Class 2 and 1 (Y2) – Thursday 18th March
Appointments can be made from 2pm to 6pm by sending the teacher a message on Dojo or emailing the school office at firstname.lastname@example.org. You will then receive a text message with your exact appointment time the day before.
These appointments will give you the chance to see how your child has settled back in and discuss their learning with the class teacher. It is always worth booking a phone call, even after this extended absence, to allow you time to discuss your child in detail and talk about their next steps.
Next Friday (19th March) is our Red Nose Day event for Comic Relief. This year’s theme is doing something ‘Funny for Money’. We have asked for children to get dressed as silly as possible. It might be fancy dress, mis-matched clothes, crazy hair or painted faces. Anything goes and the staff will be joining in too. There will be an open bucket collection on the school gates in the morning with a suggested donation of £1.
The British weather seems to be treating us this week to another rollercoaster spring. Please make sure children are appropriately dressed for the weather with jumpers or cardigans that can be taken off and coats if it’s cold or rainy. If you borrow an item from school, please return in washed and ready for another child.
Our usual reminders when dropping and collecting children still remain very important.
• Ensure adults wear a face covering and practise social distancing whilst at the gates
• If you need help or a longer conversation with the class teacher, call or email school and we will organise a return call.
• Please do not pull cars into the school car park, even if late. This is ONLY for staff and deliveries.
We hope you enjoy your surprises to celebrate Mothering Sunday and the special messages from your children on the class pages. Mums, and those special people in our lives, do so much for us, even as adults, and we wanted to help the children show their appreciation. Congratulations to all our children for tackling their first week back with such enthusiasm. We are so proud of them all.
Have a fabulous weekend
