School Update - Friday 18th September 2026
Running Your Reading Miles ....
We are looking forward to seeing our FS2 families as we formally launch their reading journey next week. We are passionate about reading at Ryecroft and know how important having parents and carers as partners on this journey is. Reading at home is rewarded through children's characters 'running' along a track with prizes along the way. Children enjoy their reading being celebrated with their friends and we always see the impact of extra reading on children's outcomes.
This week we have had a few queries about PE kits. On Tuesday we ask all our children to come in their PE kits. Ideally, these are plain black hoodies, black bottoms and white t shirts. We always try to go outside whenever possible so please make sure children are dressed for the weather. We also ask for Y1 and Y2 children to have a simple kit in school to use on their PE day in the week. We appreciate that changing is tricky when children are small but practice is important and they are given lots of help.
We know there has been a lot of information sent out in the last few days. We work hard to try to ensure families receive the information they need. All letters are sent via email, on to Class Dojo and posted on the website.

School Update - Friday 11th September 2026
Singing this week with Mr Simpson our school pianist. A focus on nursery rhymes for our newest children and harvest songs for our Y1 and Y2. We love being able to sing to a piano and it helps improve our understanding of music and songs.

Today we have sent out our term dates for this half term. As many of us are parents we understand the challenges and try hard to stick to the dates given. We hope this gives you opportunity to get them in your calendars.
We are keen for our children to receive the best possible start in life and know our families value this also. We ask all our parents are carers to keep the pavement outside school and playground a smoke AND vape free zone and ensure that the language and conversations are appropriate for the children around.
We have been enjoyed showing new families around school this week and still have some spaces available. If you have friends or relatives looking for school places for next year or this, please encourage them to come and look around.

School Update - Friday 4th September 2026
Welcome back to Ryecroft!
It has been lovely to meet new families and see old faces as our FS2 children have joined us this week. Starting school is a special event in the lives of our children and we hope they have enjoyed their first few days. Please look at our Facebook page this weekend for some lovely pictures of our fantastic new FS2 finding their feet.
Today we have said goodbye to Miss Laycock who has been with us for the last 9 years as she moves to a different career. We held a special assembly and gave her gifts from the staff and children. We will miss you Miss Laycock, come and see us soon.
We have enjoyed seeing so many children biking and scooting to school this week and hope this continues. We always ask that children push bikes and scooter to the gate and ride them once outside. This is to prevent accidents in our limited space. Thank you for helping us with this by reminding the children.
Over the next few days we will send home more information about the dates for your diary for this upcoming term. We aim to give families as much notice as possible about special events and, whenever possible, keep dates set.
