Questions & Answers

What shall I do if my child is ill?

We ask that you contact school before 9 30am on 01709 710599 or our text line 07592372224 to advise us why your child is not attending school or leave a message or text with your child's name and class and reason for absence.

If your child has sickness or diarrhoea we ask you keep him/her off school for a clear 48 hours from the last episode of illness. This is to ensure nothing is passed on in school.

Please note the school office opens at 8:30am. Before this time please leave a message on the answer machine.

What shall I do if I arrive late to school?

You will need to take your child to the school reception desk and sign him/her in the late book and order a school meal if required. Reception staff will then take your child to class.

What if my child has a medical appointment?

A medical card or appointment letter is required. Please take this to the school office and an authorisation letter will be given to you to take to your appointment. Your child will then need to be signed out at reception on exit.

What if my child needs medicine?

We can only administer medicine that has been prescribed by a doctor and needs to be taken 4 times a day.  or for on-going medical reasons/conditions. All medicines are kept securely in the school office. If the medicine is required 3 times a day we ask that this is done at home. A medical form needs to be completed from the school office and medicine collected by an adult at the end of the school day.

Can I take my child out of school on holiday during term time?

From September 2013 there have been amendments to the Department for Education 2006 Regulations which states that head teachers may not grant any leave of absence during term time unless there are exceptional circumstances.

This means no holiday requests will be authorised during term time.

We ask that before you book holidays in term time you consider the following:

  • An unauthorised absence in school time could lead to a fixed penalty notice of £60 per child per parent (£120 if not paid within 21 days)

  • Taking children out of school during term time will have an impact on their progress, academic achievement and well being.

Leave of absence request forms must be completed and sent into school at least one week before a holiday is to be taken. The leave of absence forms can be requested from reception and our attendance policy can be downloaded below.

Attendance and punctuality is closely monitored throughout the year by the school and the Local Authority Attendance Panel. If your child’s punctuality or attendance becomes a concern you will be invited to meet with the attendance panel to discuss this further.
